Michael Doolin

Michael Doolin was the Founder of Clover HR, which he established in 2017 with a clear vision to deliver commercially focused, people-centred HR solutions. Under Michael’s leadership, Clover HR flourished, growing to achieve an annual turnover of £1 million and supporting 130 clients each day. With a team of more than 40 HR professionals, the business delivers comprehensive HR services across a diverse range of industries, from unionised environments to fast-paced, non-unionised sectors.

With over 35 years of experience in senior HR roles, Michael built a distinguished career defined by his ability to align people strategies with commercial objectives and drive sustainable organisational growth. His expertise spanned employee relations, talent management, organisational development, and the navigation of complex mergers and acquisitions. He also led national pay negotiations and designed award-winning employee engagement and leadership programmes for global organisations, leaving a lasting impact on the businesses and individuals he supported.

Beyond his work at Clover HR, Michael was a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), where he was committed to mentoring and developing fellow HR professionals. He served with integrity as a Lay Member of the Employment Tribunal and generously shared his knowledge as a Guest Lecturer at Warwick and Leeds University Business Schools. His leadership extended further through his roles as a Non-Executive Director for two businesses, where his strategic insight and steady guidance were highly valued.

While Michael’s professional accomplishments were significant, he was first and foremost a devoted and proud father to his two daughters, Eleanor and Lydia. He often described fatherhood as his greatest and most rewarding role, one that brought him immense pride and joy.

Michael passed away in December 2025, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of leadership, integrity, and ambition. His loss has been deeply felt by colleagues, clients, and the wider HR community who valued not only his expertise, but also his warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

In honour of Michael’s vision, Clover HR remains steadfast in its commitment to the standards he set. We will continue to uphold his pursuit of excellence, his commercial acumen, and his belief in the power of people to drive organisational success. His ambition for the business, and for those within it, continues to guide us as we build on the strong foundations he created.
